Flight simulators. Are they close to the real thing?

If you’re a die hard avgeek, then you must have or atleast at some point of time played Flight Simulation games. There are plenty of these out there and not everything has the same feel. Microsoft Flight Simulator X and X-Plane 10 are quite popular. The FSX (short for Flight Simulator X) community has rapidly grown over the years and still is. I can’t really say if one simulator has the leading edge. FSX has got pretty decent graphics and realism when used with some add-on textures like REX Essentials. Speaking from the controls POV, yep you could do anything. The default 737 aircraft that comes with the simulator does’t let you to control pressurization, pneumatics, VHF transponder and the Flight Management System. Novice simmers could go with the default aircraft but for a much realistic experience for advanced simmers or real-world pilots, I’d suggest the PMDG 737 NGX, which is a paid add-on aircraft. You get some props and jets with the default aircraft set which are pretty useful for training. I spent so much time on these and never get bored of them, despite humanity’s dream to take flight came true back then in 1903, we still find the art of taking ‘flight’ amusing today. Very few people have been in control of an aircraft during their life i.e., pilots. If you want to live this dream from the comfort of your home, you could choose to fly in desktop simulation games.
